my work ranges within existing beloved themes. i make thrown flatware, paint precise surface decoration with black slip and keep final glazing glossy and clear. my work is intended to be used and is all food safe.
i reference historical cross-stitch patterns, translating symbols into dot-code and back into image. i am inspired by my family history; paternally through scribing yiddish and maternally by modeling from rhenish pottery. i put myself and my loved ones onto pieces, playing with stretched shadows and silhouettes. i return to textiles in other ways with patterns from rugs, weavings, and quilts.
